Write With Me

You may already know that Travel on the Reg is a humor and travel site with a focus on “regular” travel vs. the sort of thing you see all over social media and the bloggerverse.

What you may not know is that the site’s creator (that’s me, Agnes Groonwald) boasts professional experience in both journalism and education.

What’s that look like?

I have both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in journalism which led to several years in an exciting field. I worked as a staff writer at a Washington Post-owned newspaper group in the Washington, D.C., area, as an editor for both print and online publications, and then as a freelance journalist in Chicago, with clips that include articles in the Chicago Tribune

Then massive newsroom layoffs hit, and local journalism suffered as a result.

What followed for me was a completely different career in special education, a field I hold a master’s degree in, as well.

Why does this matter for your purposes? You’re here for writing support.

Well, the special education field requires a high attention to detail at the risk of getting sued by parents, and exceptional written communication skills to get the services you know students need to be successful.

I was in that field for eight years before essentially burning out.

I wrote all about the gory details if you’re interested.

In addition to working under the banner of Travel on the Reg as a travel blogger and guest poster on travel sites, I’ve been working in a freelance capacity in a variety of writing and editing roles.

That has included blog and newsletter content, marketing materials, landing pages, SEO work, and a variety of ghostwriting tasks for clients across niche areas.

It’s all been quite rewarding!

All that means is that I’m qualified to support you in your own writing needs.

WHY WRITE WITH TRAVEL ON THE REG?

Want to take your writing to the next level, whether that’s improving your grammar or making your content more enticing to the reader?

Are you looking for someone with writing experience to support you in creating content for your site?

As someone with teaching experience, particularly in the field of special education, I have patience for days, and attention to detail unparalleled by those who have never worked in fields where there’s a constant fear of being sued.

It’s a real thing, people.

As someone with staff writing and editing experience, I thrive on deadlines and crafting content that’s not only readable but compelling, all while maintaining a high level of professionalism and accuracy.

As a big fan of words and all things grammar, I take great pride in making a piece of work the best it can be, whether that’s my own or a client’s.
